News and Accolades

Mrs. Stephanie Giamanco, 4th Grade Teacher, Farnham Elementary School,  San Jose ( Cambrian School District)

Empowering World Change is an excellent presentation for people of all ages! My 4th graders were enthusiastic and excited to learn new ways we can help the environment. It is great to make children aware of what is being done to the environment AND ways we can make it better for future generations. Thank you to the lovely ladies that came to our class to present! The book you donated to our room flew off the library shelf!

Diane Hurd, Interior Design Instructor and Division Head, West Valley College, Saratoga, CA                                                                                                                                           You impressed and inspired our students Today! Thank you for educating our students on the principles and realities of Green Design and Sustainability. It is always fun to see students become enlightened to the possibilities within the Interior Design profession. Your passion is undeniable and very contagious! I look forward to your repeat performances in subsequent Interior Design classes (and beyond).

“Sushanta Bhandarkar has spoken to my Interior Design classes several times. Her presentation from Empowering World Change captivates my adult students as much as it does the primary school students who were it’s first audience. Sushanta is an excellent speaker. She has no problem pausing to answer a question from the audience. I am so willing to offer this recommendation because I have listened to my students talk about the changes they implemented immediately after her presentation and continue to seek a better relationship with the world as a whole.

J Jill, Saratoga:                                                                                                                               “Thank you for doing this. I hope you can inspire many other people to do the same as you are doing. You definitely did that for me. Listening to you made me rethink on how I live: So wasteful! I love your idea of  3 minute showers and tell everyone I know about it….Keep up the good work. I am with you!”

Keri G-M:                                                                                                                                 “Thank you for all that you are doing. I hope one day the things you are educating people about are the norm.”

Shilpa Abhyankar, Santa Clara:                                                                                                    Hi Sushanta, I thought of you as I read today’s Daily Om!  I admire your ability to “Take Action”.  I am very proud of your new initiative in “Empowering World Change”.  I love your website and the message it conveys.  Even though I have always tried to be more conscious of my actions, there are some areas where we are less aware.  This surely spreads the awareness.

Also you are personally inspiring and don’t hesitate to share what you believe in.  I was touched when my son, Viren said last night before sleeping “Mumma please close the lights so we don’t waste energy”.  He is afraid of sleeping in the dark and had also watched Harry Potter last evening.  This is some transformation.  I wanted to let you know it is working!!!

Keep up the good work.  Our support is with you.

Vandana Agarwal, Cupertino:                                                                                                         I am impressed with the level of inspiration into any project you touch. You have been busy working on a very noble cause is all I can say. I love the inspiring statement on your website, we have not inherited this world from our grandparents, we have borrowed it from our children…

It is amazing how my sons, Varun and Prateek also share a very common vision for a better future for themselves and participate very actively with me in our efforts to recycle and not dump everything into trash cans…. we take small steps at home to make it part of our habits to protect and sustain the environment, but what a wonderful idea to get one child, one family, one school and one community at a time.

You wouldn’t believe that just last week at work, I raised my voice against the volumes of water bottles we dump into recycle and trash bins every day…My workplace offers recyclable water bottles to employees for convenience, but shocking that a very elite and educated community doesn’t get it, what can we expect from the classes that are not as aware about the impact it causes on our eco system…. with collaborative work spaces growing by the hundreds to save real estate money, it is very likely that people leave their half utilized bottles all over the workplace… and I am trying to impact a change in that behavior by working with the Work Place Resources team which manages this program.

I would love to talk to you about the program you have envisioned and get the children involved. Please keep me in the loop on any upcoming events and I would love to have the kids hear it from you and see how they can participate and contribute towards the program by taking it to their school as well.
